8 Tips to Get the Most of your Perfumes

Posted on

1. Moisturize as Soon as Possible after taking a shower

use moisturizer

This is the perfect moment to add any body care products since it is the time your skin is the most receptive. It will make it easier to apply body butters, moisturizers and rich oils. Make sure you are using a scent-free moisturizer.

2. Spray it!

At this point, your skin is most likely a bit warmer, so it is a good time to spray your perfume since the warmth will help you diffuse it. The moisturizer will have smoothed your skin, making a bed for your perfume´s molecule and allowing it to stay longer.

3. Aim at Your Pulse Points

Spray your perfume directly on your pulse points. These are warm spots such as the wrists, neck and behind your ears, don´t try to spritz and then walk into a cloud of perfume since the fragrance molecules are fast and will likely be on the floor before you can even sense it. If you want it to last longer, apply Vaseline to create a foundation for your perfume.

4. Avoid Rubbing Your Wrists Together at all Costs

don´t rubb your wrists together

Since it will deconstruct your fragrance and will make it last for less time. It means the first notes you sense will fade quicker and the fragrance vanish out before you even go out.

5. Use Some Scented Body Wash

Spend some quality time by yourself and get ready at the same time! Using a scented body wash will help you blend floral and musky notes. It will also release a hint of fragrance whenever you rub your skin.

6. If You are Adding Perfume to Your Body Lotion

Make sure you are using a jar instead of a bottle as it will be easier to mix. Add a couple of drops of pure scented oil or essential oil to an unscented lotion. Add some more depending on the smell you want to acquire.

7. How to Tone Down a Perfume You Don´t Like

Use a cotton ball moist with rubbing alcohol. This will help you remove a fond you are not enjoying. Rub the cotton on your skin and let it dry. If that doesn´t work, create a paste of equal parts baking soda and water and apply it.

8. Don´t Store Scents in the Bathroom

don´t store perfumes in the bathroom

Avoid storing perfumes and fragrances in the bathroom since they are broken down by heat, humidity and light which ultimately makes them smell funny. Place them on your dresser or side table. If you have perfumes you only wear seasonally, you may put them plastic bag in the fridge. The plastic bag will prevent it from losing its fragrance while the fridge will protect it from heat and light.
